Trice Talk "Mini-Pod" w/Donald Wayne. As the Memorial Day Holiday draws to a close, I hope everyone had the opportunity to spend some quality time with friends/family. And hopefully everyone spent some time reflecting on the lives that were given in defense of our country and our way of life. Memorial Day is not just a paid Holiday for American's, it's a day that was set aside after our Civil War to remember those who paid the ultimate price. I sincerely hope that at some point during this day, everyone thought about the true meaning of Memorial Day, and realized how lucky we all are that there are and has been since the founding of our country, people willing to fight and die for what they believe in....what we all should believe in.
The subject for tonights's "Mini-Pod" is Government Spending and it's link to inflation. I read from a newsletter that was written by John Tower, Republican Senator from Texas, who was telling his constituents that the Government was the main creator of inflation, by it's uncontrolled spending on projects that are not all that important when Americans have to pay such a high price. As I go through a portion of the article, you should be able to pick out similarities between problems with government spending then to government spending today. This newsletter was sent out (by mail) in the Spring of 1966 (May/June Edition). That means 54 years ago we had very similar problems with our government growing and spending money they don't have - in such excess that inflation as well as the National Debt becomes a serious issue. I hope you will find the similarities disturbing, in the sense that - can this problem ever be fixed? Will it?
